More than 106 scientists and industry experts met in London last week to
discuss the way forward for research into the health effects of cellphones.
Chaired by William Stewart, head of the Independent Expert Group on Mobile
Phones, the meeting discussed how to spend the £7 million raised by the
British government and the mobile phone industry. Bids will probably cover
epidemiological studies into phone use and living near masts, neurological and
psychological effects, and possible effects on cell division and gene
expression.
