Sony has made a time machine for cars: it lets you record all of a song on
the radio even if it has already started when you hit “record”. The new audio
system combines a radio and MiniDisc player. All MD decks have a 10-second
buffer memory to keep the music playing if the laser is jogged, so Sony has
decided to use the memory to buffer the sound from the car radio. As long as you
press the record button within 10 seconds of the song’s start, you’ll get the
complete tune.
