That electromagnetic, squawking droid Furby doesn’t interfere with
life-critical medical instruments after all, according to Canadian health
authorities. Hospital managers were concerned that the toys could interfere with
medical devices, say researchers at the government agency Health Canada. They
exposed 13 medical devices to an active Furby but found no problems, even while
the toy was within 2 centimetres of the equipment (Canadian Medical
Association Journal, vol 161, p 971).
