Britain and the US are to pool information in the search for the causes of
Gulf War Syndrome, the mysterious set of symptoms that afflict some veterans of
the 1991 conflict. The agreement provides a channel for sharing classified
information that could shed light on the illness. The move is intended to
provide a catalyst for transatlantic joint projects examining the condition,
although Britain’s Ministry of Defence admits that there is no new money for
research as part of the deal.
