A smart badge system is being developed to personalise the Big Idea, an
interactive exhibition to be mounted in Ardeer, Ayrshire, in spring 2000. When
you enter the exhibition you will give the organisers a few personal details,
including your name and age, and receive a badge. Infrared and radio sensors
around the site will allow visitors wearing the badges to be tracked to the
nearest half-metre. As they explore the 0.4 hectare exhibition, the system will
greet each of them by name, give demonstrations to suit their age, make
suggestions about which exhibits to visit next and steer them away from crowded
exhibits.
