A robotic lawn mower has been developed by the Machine Intelligence
Laboratory at the University of Florida. The robot detects the boundaries of the
lawn through a radio antenna buried around the edge of the grass. It uses sonar
to avoid trees, children and other obstacles and is powered by a rechargeable
battery. But humans still have to rake up the clippings.
