Taking the Five Biggest Ideas in Science (John Wiley,
£11.99/$14.95, ISBN 0 471 13812 6) and putting them in an
accessible book laced with cartoons was a brilliant concept. Charles Wynn,
Arthur Wiggins and Sidney Harris haven’t quite carried it off (their
understanding of astronomy rates B-minus), but there are enough good bits to
make it worth dipping into.
