What is Intelligence?, edited by Jean Khalfa (Cambridge University Press, 拢12.95/$19.95, ISBN 0 521 56685 1) is a collection of reprinted lectures. Each one is by a distinguished name and takes a particular aspect of intelligence鈥攍anguage and intelligence, infant intelligence and so on. The lectures vary in style and attraction. Leave the introduction until last: it sharpens the effect of the sections but does need wrestling with.
