Patents: Dental digit

By Barry Fox

26 January 1991

There is nothing better than a human finger for reaching round awkward
objects, reasons Herman Turner of Liverpool, so why not use it as a toothbrush?
His British patent application (2 227 938) reminds us that teeth seldom
grow in neat straight lines and are always awkward to reach with a brush.

His idea is a sheath, like a rubber finger stall, with a pad of abrasive
material at the end. You put the sheath on your finger, wipe the pad over
some toothpaste and rub away.
