British explosives companies should tighten up on safety precautions,
the Health and Safety Executive warned this week. The recommendation appeared
in the HSE’s official report on a van which exploded last year in the Cambridgeshire
town of Peterborough. The blast, which killed one person and injured 100,
was a result of badly packed fuseheads. Nobel Explosives, a subsidiary of
ICI, was fined 250,000 Pounds.
