Video: Victorian test bed rearranges metal sculpture
If you鈥檝e never had an outlet for your destructive urges, 快猫短视频 has teamed up with the Kirkaldy Testing Museum in London to offer you the chance to have an object demolished by the colossal Universal Testing Machine housed there.
Designed by Scottish engineer David Kirkaldy in 1861, the 15-metre-long, 116-tonne iron giant was built to exert a force of up to 450 tonnes, stretching, crushing and bending materials to destruction. At Kirkaldy鈥檚 Testing Works in Southwark, London, the Universal Testing Machine tore apart anchor chains and crumpled bridge supports in its mission to define the strength and durability of Victorian engineering materials.

To win, just tell us what object you鈥檇 like to see crushed or stretched by the machine and why (please, keep it to inanimate objects!). The bigger and more solid the better. We鈥檒l choose the best entry and consign the chosen item to destruction at the Kirkaldy Testing Museum 鈥� and we鈥檒l publish a video of the event online.
