She makes a good case for the transformative powers of reading on human cognition, and champions the intriguing idea that dyslexia may be linked to 鈥渦nparalleled creativity鈥�. Less convincing are her fears that a new generation of internet-savvy readers will forfeit reading鈥檚 鈥渟ecret gift of time to think鈥�, which allows our minds to reach beyond the text.
