As in its predecessor, a player creates their own virtual world full of autonomous characters, or 鈥渟ims鈥�, with distinct personalities, needs and desires. The new game gives sims memories, genetically inherited characteristics and lets them age.
Another impressive sequel is Everquest 2 (Ubisoft/Sony Online Entertainment, PC, 拢34.99). This 鈥渕assive multiplayer online role playing game鈥� is set in the world of Norrath and players assume the role of fantastic creatures. I lost count of the quests to complete. Players can also club together via the internet to form guilds or to trade items. A huge number of non-player characters have speaking parts, voiced by Christopher Lee among others.
Star Wars Battlefront (Activision UK/LucasArts, PC/PS2/XBox, 拢39.99) also enables players to hook up over the internet. Take part in furious battlefield action as a rebel fighter, a storm trooper or even a combat droid. Characters are drawn from all six Star Wars films, so fans get to fight alongside Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and other Jedi heroes. Spread over 10 planets, the game offers an expansive galaxy to explore and conquer.
