Custom cosmetics

Ever wished that you could find just the right shade of make-up? Maybe it would be better if you mixed your own cosmetics at home, like paint in a DIY shop (US 2003/69667).

Procter & Gamble of Cincinnati is patenting a wall-mounted cabinet that conceals a range of cartridges containing base waxes and powders, cosmetic creams, colour dyes, sunscreens, moisturisers, anti-ageing ingredients and fragrances. You key in the code for lipstick, say, and the cabinet mixes the right ingredients and squeezes it out into an applicator.

Adventurous party-people can make up their own codes, while others can play safe and use codes printed in adverts, downloaded from the Internet or sent by text message.
