Bathroom arachnophobia remains a rich vein for inventors. Ideas range from ladders that let spiders escape from the bathtub, to bristly extendible brushes that trap the beasts harmlessly in their fibres. John Dony of Hertfordshire has a new idea (GB 2364877). A transparent plastic box with one side open is placed over a spider on the wall of the bath, trapping it there. You then blow through a tube in the opposite side of the clear box to blast the spider off the wall and into a trap beneath the box. The whole unit is then taken outside and upended. Blowing through the tube ejects the spider into the outside world.
