Gamblers are more likely to keep on spending money if fruit machines smell
fresher, says Aironic of New South Wales (WO 99/54615). Although pubs and clubs
have air-conditioning systems, say inventors Gerald Marceau and Tushar Bose,
they cannot cope with the smell of smoke, food and booze that concentrates
around gaming machines. Aironic suggests fitting a fan and activated carbon
filter inside each machine: the fan sucks in smoky, fetid air, filters it,
ionises it and pumps it out and onto the player to create 鈥渁n envelope of
treated air鈥.
