Instead of defending their borders with landmines, countries such as South
Korea should employ modified electronic dart guns or tasers, suggests Barnet
Resnick of Newport Beach, California (WO 99/30968). Tasers fire small darts
connected to thin wires that carry high voltage to convulse and temporarily
disable anyone they hit. Resnick鈥檚 鈥渁rea denial device鈥 will fire a spray of
darts when triggered by an intruder, or via a secure digital code sent from a
guard post. The 鈥渢aser mines鈥 can be temporarily switched off so that any
intruders can be captured.
