Guy Watson, an organic farmer in Devon, has failed to get the British
government to stop a trial of genetically engineered maize growing 2 kilometres
from his land. Watson argues that pollen from the experimental field could
鈥減ollute鈥� his own maize crops. But the government鈥檚 Advisory Committee on
Releases to the Environment has decided that the altered maize is too far away
to pose a problem.
Watson is still pursuing legal action to get the trial stopped, with help
from Friends of the Earth.
