You may not be able to buy a ticket to this summer’s football World Cup
finals. But would you buy some grass from the pitches your country played on?
James Fretwell of Worksop, Nottinghamshire, thinks you will—particularly
if your side wins a famous victory (GB 2 314 067). His idea is to gather the
grass from the pitch after it has been cut, and dry it. The dried clippings are
then mixed with silica gel to stop them from rotting, and encapsulated in a
glass cylinder to make a paperweight that can be sold as a souvenir.
