Patents : Stetson hat tricks

If you want to get ahead on the golf course, get a hat. Roy Halle of New
South Wales in Australia has found that wearing a hat can improve a golfer鈥檚
swing (WO 97/35493). The trick is to wear a wide-brimmed hat with heavy lead
wire wound around the rim. The added weight keeps the head stationary, which
training manuals say improves the swing, and Halle鈥檚 patent comes with pages of
maths to prove it. The bigger the hat, the more dramatic the effect: a stetson
is ideal.
