THE RICH family of Melbourne is into dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals.
Pat Vickers-Rich is a professor of palaeontology at Monash University. Her
husband, Tom, is a curator of vertebrate palaeontology at the Museum of
Victoria. Their daughter, Leaellyn, an arts/law student at Melbourne University,
has had a dinosaur named after her and has been on dinosaur expeditions since
she was three months old. Many of the expeditions have been to Victoria鈥檚 west
coast where her parents have been unravelling the story of dinosaurs that could
survive extremely cold conditions. The Rich family has written a book on the
history of Australia鈥檚 backboned animals鈥擜ustralia鈥檚 Lost World
($19.95, Kangaroo Press). The book, well illustrated and clearly written,
is aimed at secondary school students.
